CZ Says Bitcoin Will Overtake Gold's Market Cap in Next Bull Run

Changpeng Zhao (CZ), former CEO of Binance, said this week that bitcoin will surpass gold's market capitalization during the next bull market and that the $1 million price target will be reached sooner than 25 years. His remarks followed a 27% rise in bitcoin over two weeks. In October 2025, CZ had said bitcoin would beat gold but did not provide a timeline. Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong in August 2025 projected bitcoin could hit $1 million by 2030. A year later, after bitcoin dropped about 30%, he lowered the forecast to $300,000–$400,000. Armstrong also said this month there is a good chance bitcoin reaches $100,000 by the end of the year. CZ's past calls include saying in November 2022, with bitcoin near $16,000, that it was not dead, and predicting in 2023 that a bull market would arrive in 2025. According to ChainCatcher, Jiang Zhuoer, founder of Bitcoin mining pool B.TOP, used historical data from the previous three Bitcoin bull-bear cycles to forecast the bottom of the current bear market. He said the drawdown ratios across four cycles are 86.9%, 84.1%, 77.6% and 65.1% (the current cycle's forecast), corresponding to a BTC price of $44,016, with the bottom expected to appear on October 31.
